Meet Chelsea

I feel like I’m new to the creative industry, but really, I’ve been in it my whole life. It wasn’t until July 2008 that I really dove in and became a professional in the industry. I cannot believe how far this business has taken me, but I am so thankful for it every day. You see, I grew up in a family of engineers. Everything was literal, and there was not much room to be off-the-wall and creative. I feel like I have always been creative at heart and in my personal life, but when it comes to being creative in my profession, there’s more risk for road blocks.

It’s around this time last year that I began to get burned out. Wedding season is at its tail-end, and family picture season is in full swing. CORRECTION: Overdrive. I find myself completing the same formula for pictures over and over again. Same locations. Similar poses. Blah, blah, blah. I realized this year that around this time, I get into a creative funk and need desperately for something to bring me out. It amazes me that every time I reach a creative road block, I only have to shoot in a brand new location or shoot something I’ve never done before…and voila! Creativity flows like wine. Or Grapefruit Juice, which is now my drink of choice for the next few months 🙂

I’m so thankful to have broken out of my little funk this afternoon, when I shot senior portraits for Ryan and Megan. They are twins, believe it or not, and have completely different personalities. Ryan stuck around only for a short time, so once he left, Megan had my work cut out for me! It’s not every day that I get to shoot a SUPERMODEL, but today was my lucky day! Megan is a natural, and I was so thrilled to capture some pictures to document her senior year. We shot their pictures in a small, little nook of woods, right by my house. I drive past it every single day, but today… I saw it in a different light and HAD to shoot there. I begged Megan’s mom to change our location, and thankfully, she obliged. Hopefully Stacie, you are not disappointed! I don’t think it could have been prettier…or more inspiring. Thanks Megan (who confessed to “stalking” my blog) for breaking me out of the funk! And when you become a rich and famous model (and doctor) some day, don’t forget to hire me as your personal photographer!

Enjoy and have a great weekend everyone!

There’s always time for some sibling rivalry. I told them to give each other the stink eye. They look pretty innocent though!

Isn’t he a stud??

LOVE this light.

I told Megan that she looks just like Vanessa Hudgens. Don’t you think?

Isn’t she GOR-GEOUS!?

Favorite <3 Cannot get over those colors!

Megan, you are such a doll! Adorable.
