High School sweethearts are something I hold fiercely dear to my heart. The hopeless romantic in me just swoons at the thought of marrying the one you’ve known for most of your life. The confidence in knowing so early that they are “the one.” There’s beauty in the comfort they share with each other, despite their long history of growing up together. This is Jack and Jen.
I hadn’t met them before I drove across the Chesapeake to photograph them. I did what any completely normal person does these days (!!) and searched for them on Facebook to gather a bit of information about what they do, what they look like and any pictures of them together (I’m not alone in doing this, am I?!). They looked sweet and happy…and by this, I was so encouraged. After driving down some small-town, country roads, I ended up in Jack and Jen’s driveway. In front of me was the most adorable white cottage, tucked into a wooded shelter. Red flowers on the porch, and a Maryland flag waving proudly above the door. Out of the front door, the sweetest Jen emerged with the most inviting smile, and right behind her was her sweetheart, Jack. It was like reading a book…a Nicholas Sparks book. I knew only good things could come from this 🙂
Throughout the shoot, Jen and Jack were so comfortable with each other, playing affectionately and giving each other tender smiles. You could just tell how much they were in love, without it being overt or forged or exaggerated. Their love is genuine and content. Something that every person searches for. I know that they will do amazing things with their business, Metro Mascots, and in their marriage. Thank you, Jack and Jen, for being amazing subjects (and braving the bugs!). You two and your little story of yours will inspire many, I just know it!
