They had both been waiting. Waiting their whole lives for this day to come. They were each others “one” and they knew it with all their heart. So he was waiting…waiting at the bottom of the hill for his sweet bride to come and meet him. She giggled with excitement as she made her way to her groom. Also standing in all white {both Alex & John are 2011 Naval Academy Grads!}, John stood with his back turned, completely giddy and smiling. And then… their eyes met and immediately filled with tears of pure happiness and joy.
Their relationship had been a waiting game. John and Alex had met, and instantly they were attracted to each other. However, the timing was not right, and both John AND Alex were looking to the Lord for His perfect timing and guidance. John was patient as Alex was still waiting until she knew the time was right. Finally, she knew, and thus began their courtship.
The wedding day was stunning. Alex had everything planned to a “T” and all the details were a dream to photograph (ask any photographer, details are our favorite parts!). The weather could not have been nicer and most of all, they were surrounded by their closest friends and family, all of which adore John & Alex. I’ve never experienced a more emotional wedding. I’m not sure if it’s all my post-baby hormones, but at one point, one of the bridesmaids offered me their tissue. Pathetic. Nonetheless, I enjoyed every second and truly felt like I was one of the people there supporting them, rather than just the photographer. Every aspect of their wedding had deep meaning for each of them, which is what made this day so special.
Congratulations John & Alex! Wishing you many happy blessings as you start your new life together as husband & wife! Much love to you both, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to document this amazing day for you!
John with his brothers and Dad. I love this shot… these guys were making jokes at each other all day long (with southern accents, no less!), and it was hilarious!
The “First Look.” This is seriously my favorite part of any wedding that does this. Can’t you just taste the anticipation? John and Alex also left me tons of time for pictures. It was so nice not to feel rushed or pressed for time! (You guys are the best!)
Every one of these girls were so sweet and photogenic! So much fun, too!
I loved Alex’s dress! She changed the sash to a different color for the reception. It was just gorgeous and fit her perfectly!
I die. Alex, you are just lovely!
Adorable, no?!
One of my favorites.
John is quite a dish, too!
Ok, this is my favorite. Every bride should have this look on her wedding day!
Alex had her Grandmother’s handkerchief’s with her, wrapped around her bouquet. Loved this “Something Old!”
Que the crying. Alex’s bridesmaids, friends and mother (and Mother-in-law) gathered together before the ceremony to pray over her. The words flowing from these women’s mouths were the most incredible I’ve ever heard. Each of these girls loves Alex to pieces and their prayers were just so moving. It was amazing to see everyone at this wedding with such a love for Christ. Just amazing.
The most poignant part that someone prayed was that God would use Alex and John’s wedding to be an example and an encouragement to other couples – married or not – to love God and each other.
“Love Never Fails.” The theme for the day.
This was one of the coolest things I’ve seen at a wedding. John & Alex, after they were officially married, served their guests communion.
Hitched!
What’s an Annapolitan and Navy wedding without the Arch of Swords!?
Alex used this monogram everywhere throughout the wedding. So classic! Their rings are nice, too 🙂
The party was awesome. Pretty much everyone danced! Hilarious!
Yes!
Love.
